Historically, the name “arden” was used to refer to wooded land managed by crown forestry officials under forest law. These royal forests were mainly in the form of deer parks, such as Henley-in-Arden and Coleshill, and of ecclesiastical or military woodlands, such as the Coughton Hill forest.

The Arden Estate includes a beautiful, historic mansion on the top of Mount Orama in Harriman. It is the first and one of the premier conference centers in the world.
